Itinerary:

Day One

Teen Adventure Travelers Arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica International Airport and receive a warm welcome from the camp staff. Teen campers will be whisked away to a nearby hill top region of Alajuela where the teens will greet fellow campers, participate in team building activities, visit the local wildlife preserve, and swim in the pool. After dinner, the teen adventure travelers will meet in small groups to receive a detailed itinerary, ask questions, and review adventure camp expectations and activities.

Day Two

Travel to La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano area. Trek around the base of the volcano and witness amazing lava flows. Lucky teen travelers even hear the booms from the boulders spew from the volcano and bounce down the mountain. Visit beautiful cascades and awe-inspiring waterfalls. Lake activities abound at Lake Arenal. The hot spring, fed by the volcano above, is quite an adventure all its own.

Day Three

Rincon de la Viaje National Park is the highlight for many teen travelers. Rappel through a waterfall, tube down a rushing river, ride horses atop the mountain ridges, and trek through an incredible rain forest.

Day Four

Travel to Jaco and experience another Costa Rica Adventure – a thrilling zipline canopy tour. Experience 13 thrilling runs! Notice the coastline view, listen to the howlers, and expect the unexpected!

Day Five

Hit the beaches, catch the surf, and taste the local seafood dishes. Kayaking and boogie boarding in the Pacific are other great possibilities here. The Ticos are eager to share the hidden discoveries with us! Continue traveling from the highlands to the southern peninsula to discover Zancudo, a pristine beach near the Osa Peninsula.

Day Six

Let the locals teach the ‘gringos’ some basic Spanish before surfing the waves and visiting the wildlife preserve or the Osa Peninsula. We’ll take a boat ride across the bay. Monkey sightings are almost guaranteed along with sloths, frogs, and more. If the weather is cooperative, we’ll take a detour for a snorkeling experience.

Day Seven

Explore the rivers by kayak. Gators? Likely! More surfing if you wish, or maybe just some beach time. Helping the Ticos with a service project is always fun! If you want to learn more of the language, there are native speakers eager to teach us!

Day Eight

Our adventurous teens mount the beach bikes early and take a ride to Pavones, a world famous surfing village. Our Costa Rican teens will see the Scarlet Macaws, swim in the river, hang out at the cantina and gift shop, watch the surfers, or hit the surf yourself. The choice is yours!

Day Nine

The Costa Rica Adventure Travel teens visit the famous Manuel Antonio Park for superb wildlife viewing with a local guide. Our teens experience sea kayaking perhaps or other adventure activities. A great location for souvenir shopping as well.

Day Ten

Travel to the Pacuare River area where we’ll leave the van and raft to a rainforest lodge. End the evening with a great meal, nature hikes, and team building fun!

Day Eleven

Continue the white water rafting experience on the world famous river with exhilarating Class III and IV rapids! Perhaps there is time for another zipline canopy tour before heading to Alajuela. End–Of–The-Road party awaits!

Day Twelve

The Costa Rica Adventure is nearing an end for the teen travel participants. A short van ride returns us to Alajuela for a visit to see exotic native animals and hike one more volcano! The adventure campers will celebrate with a food feast in a local restaurant and visit a few souvenir shops for those last-minute purchases.

Day Thirteen

Say our good-byes as we depart for home. Those with late flights can relax by the pool a bit longer. Hasta Luega until next year!
